1) Objective |
| The ASJA International Scholarship Program provides
students an opportunity to study their respective fields of research
in Japan's graduate school, to learn Japanese culture and lifestyle
and to interact with Japanese people., Furthermore, we aim to nurture
students who can exercise leadership and eventually be an intermediary
between Japan and their home countries. |

| 2) Program
|
One of the ASJA International Scholarship Program's
feature is to recruit one scholarship student from each member country
of ASJA every year to acquire Japanese language skills at Tokyo Japanese
Language Education Center of Japan Student Services Organization (formerly
International Friendship Association)., Upon completion, students
can pursue their respective fields of research in Japan's graduate
schools.
During their stay here, students are required to participate in some
events including study tours, training camp, Japanese culture lectures,
international understanding lectures, and exchange programs. Monthly
allowance for scholarship students is as follows: |
(1) The monthly allowance is set at the discretion of the Ministry
of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan.
(2) The monthly allowance can be used towards paying the admission
fees, tuition, etc

| 3) Qualifications |
(1) Students must be a citizen of one of the ASJA
member countries (Indonesia, Malaysia,Philippines,Singapore,Thailand, Myanmar,Cambodia,and Vietnam)
(2) Students must be less than 35 years old upon the application date.
(3) Students must be interested in Japanese culture, have a strong
will to learn the Japanese language, be able to exercise leadership
and be an intermediary between Japan and ASEAN countries or their
home countries.

| 4) Recruitment and Selection |
Studens are recruited, selected and recommended
by Alumni Associations ASJA member countries.
The selection is made by the Selection Committee which is comprised
of the representatives of the alumni associations of each country,
the Japanese Embassy staff, and by key figures in the community. (Preliminary
screening and interview) |
(Note) Recruitment and selection are not made
at ASJA International office in Tokyo. Please contact the
Alumni Associations of ASCOJA member countries. |
